Econet Wireless Announces US$15 Million Interim Dividend for Shareholders

Econet Wireless, a leading telecommunications group, has announced an interim dividend of US$15 million as part of its commitment to rewarding investors.

According to Tatenda Ngowe, Econet’s group company secretary, this dividend reflects the company’s financial performance for the period ending 29 February 2024.

“The Board of Directors has declared an interim dividend of US$15 million (equivalent to 0.55 US cents per share) for the financial year ended 29 February 2024, payable to all qualifying ordinary shareholders of the Company,” Ngowe stated.

The dividend is scheduled to be paid on or around 3 April 2024 to shareholders registered as of the close of business on 28 March 2024.

Trading of the company’s shares on the Zimbabwe Stock Exchange will include the dividend up to 25 March 2024 and will be ex-dividend from 26 March 2024. Foreign shareholders’ disbursements are subject to Exchange Control regulations and payment guidelines for foreign remittances, with applicable shareholders’ tax deducted from gross dividends.

As of the announcement, Econet shares showed a 14.82% increase, trading at $2,270.10, with a market capitalization of $5.88 trillion (equivalent to US$335.89 million).
