The Chief Executive Officer of Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC), Adelaide Chikunguru, who was under suspension pending a disciplinary inquiry, has opted to step down.

Chikunguru’s alleged misconduct was scheduled to be addressed by ZBC’s Disciplinary Committee. However, the broadcaster surprised many by announcing her resignation late on Friday.

In a statement released by ZBC, it was disclosed, “Chikunguru, has resigned. Ms. Chikunguru had been suspended pending disciplinary proceedings which had been instituted. She has decided to resign before the commencement of the proceedings.”

ZBC defended the immediate effect of Chikunguru’s resignation, citing it as her prerogative.
