Jürgen Klopp To Leave Liverpool At The End of Season

Liverpool manager, Jürgen Klopp alongside assistant managers Pepijn Lijnders and Peter Krawietz, along with elite development coach Vitor Matos, will all step down from their positions at the end of the season.

The 56-year-old manager intends to oversee the team’s remaining fixtures for the 2023-24 season before concluding his illustrious eight-and-a-half-year tenure at Anfield. Throughout his managerial reign, Liverpool has secured six major trophies under his guidance.

In an official statement to Liverpoolfc.com, Klopp confirmed his decision, providing insights into the reasons and timing of the announcement. He emphasized the importance of clarity at this juncture to facilitate an orderly transition for the team in the future.

Klopp said: “I can understand that it’s a shock for a lot of people in this moment, when you hear it for the first time, but obviously I can explain it – or at least try to explain it.

“I love absolutely everything about this club, I love everything about the city, I love everything about our supporters, I love the team, I love the staff. I love everything. But that I still take this decision shows you that I am convinced it is the one I have to take.

“It is that I am, how can I say it, running out of energy. I have no problem now, obviously, I knew it already for longer that I will have to announce it at one point, but I am absolutely fine now. I know that I cannot do the job again and again and again and again.

“After the years we had together and after all the time we spent together and after all the things we went through together, the respect grew for you, the love grew for you and the least I owe you is the truth – and that is the truth.”

Jürgen Klopp assumed the role of Liverpool manager on October 8, 2015, a pivotal decision that transformed the club, reinstating its prominence domestically and internationally.

During his tenure, Liverpool has triumphed in prestigious competitions such as the UEFA Champions League, Premier League, FIFA Club World Cup, FA Cup, League Cup, and UEFA Super Cup, along with the FA Community Shield, showcasing the team’s resurgence as a formidable presence in both local and global football.
