CID VTS Arrests Suspect ‘Chimpa’ for Fraud and Vehicle Theft Scheme

The Vehicle Theft Squad (VTS) and serious crimes unit of the Criminal Investigation Department recently detained Patrick Mutenha, also known as Chimpa, on suspicion of involvement in various illegal activities including fraud, extortion, and the unauthorized sale of clients’ vehicles. Mutenha had been evading authorities since last Friday following reports of three instances involving fraud, extortion, and vehicle theft.

However, the CID VTS team successfully apprehended him this morning at Arundel Village, where he was reportedly engaged in defrauding another client. Mutenha’s alleged scheme involved deceiving unsuspecting clients and selling their vehicles without consent, often using threats and invoking the names of prominent individuals, including members of the First Family such as Emmerson Jnr Mnangagwa, Sean & Collins, and Scott Sakupwanya.

The arrest represents a significant breakthrough in the investigation into Mutenha’s illicit activities, which have reportedly caused financial and emotional harm to numerous victims. Exploiting the trust of clients and resorting to intimidation tactics, Mutenha is accused of taking advantage of vulnerable individuals for personal gain.

A spokesperson for the CID VTS emphasized the seriousness of the charges against Mutenha and reiterated the department’s commitment to justice for the victims. They encouraged anyone who may have been affected by similar schemes to come forward and assist with ongoing investigations.

Mutenha is currently in police custody pending further legal proceedings. Authorities are urging individuals with relevant information to cooperate with law enforcement agencies.
