According to reports from Cricbuzz, Zimbabwean all-rounder Sean Williams has decided to retire from T20 Internationals (T20Is). The left-handed player reached this decision following the recently concluded five-match T20I series against Bangladesh.

In the series, Bangladesh emerged victorious in the first four matches, but Zimbabwe managed to secure a consolation win in the final match, providing Williams a satisfying farewell from the T20 format. Notably, Williams participated in only the first and last games of the series. However, he will continue representing Zimbabwe in One Day Internationals (ODIs) and Test matches.

An official from the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), who is associated with the Zimbabwean team, confirmed Williams’ retirement decision to Cricbuzz on Sunday, stating that Williams informed his teammates about his choice after the game.

Williams has a notable T20I career, having played 81 matches for Zimbabwe. During his tenure, he scored 1691 runs at a strike rate of 126.38 and claimed 48 wickets with his left-arm spin. Interestingly, his final T20I appearance took place in the same country where he debuted back in 2006. Moreover, Williams took on the captaincy of Zimbabwe’s T20I team after Elton Chigambura’s retirement in 2019.
