Jonathan Moyo Asserts Chamisa Forfeited Right to Call for New Elections

Jonathan Moyo, an exiled former cabinet minister, has contended that any forthcoming political party or movement emerging post the 2023 harmonised general election lacks both factual and legal grounds to demand a fresh election.

In addition, he argues that candidates who defect from their original party after contesting under its banner relinquish any claims or entitlements related to that specific election, regardless of their legitimacy.

Moyo specifically highlights Nelson Chamisa, the former president of the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC), emphasizing that Chamisa forfeited his right to call for new elections upon departing from the party he initially represented.

Despite reports of Chamisa’s potential formation of a new political party, Jonathan Moyo maintains that he remains ineligible to petition for fresh polls.
