Names Revealed for Victims of the Accident at 22 Miles

The names of the six individuals who lost their lives in a tragic road traffic incident, which occurred yesterday at 22 Miles along the Mutare-Marange Road involving a Mazda BT50 vehicle and a haulage truck, have been disclosed by the police.

Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi, the national police spokesperson, verified today that the death toll stands at six, with the youngest victim being one year old. Additionally, 12 passengers sustained injuries in the accident. Commissioner Nyathi noted that the driver of the haulage truck fled the scene following the incident.

“The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirms a fatal road traffic accident which occurred on January 12 at around 1pm at the 35 kilometer peg along Mutare-Marange Road in which six people were killed while 12 others were injured.”

“The six victims were identified by their next of kin as listed: Anna Tariro Machangachanga (30) of Mutare, Joyce Duchi of Mutare, Portia Nyamajo of Mutare, Nomatter Hwenzira of Mutare, Tsitsi Masuzhe of Mutare and Addella Henzira of Mutare,” said Assistant Commissioner Nyathi.

He mentioned that the deceased’s bodies were transported to the mortuary at Victoria Chitepo Provincial Hospital for post-mortem examinations, while those who sustained injuries are currently receiving treatment at the same hospital. Assistant Commissioner Nyathi urged motorists to adhere to all road rules and regulations and to ensure the roadworthiness of their vehicles
