The Operation Florian Humanitarian Charity Organization, based in the United Kingdom (UK), has generously contributed to Mutare City Council by donating two fire tenders along with essential tools and equipment. The official handover of the fire tenders took place on Wednesday, with Acting Town Clerk Blessing Chafesuka and senior managers overseeing the delivery.
Each of the fire tenders boasts a water carrying capacity of 1800 liters. Chafesuka expressed his gratitude, stating that this donation has expanded the city’s fire tender fleet to eight, enabling them to respond effectively to any emergencies. He highlighted plans to decentralize fire stations, strategically placing them in high-density suburbs where fires commonly occur.
Chafesuka emphasized the origin of the fire tenders, mentioning that they were sourced from a UK-based charity organization. In addition to these two new additions, the city had previously received three fire tenders from Belarus, complementing the existing three old ones. With a total of eight fire tenders now at their disposal, the city is well-equipped to provide comprehensive fire services.
Council spokesperson Spren Mutiwi revealed that efforts are underway to procure a specialized ladder capable of reaching tall buildings within the city. This initiative aligns with their commitment to prioritize service delivery through recapitalization. Mutiwi expressed gratitude for the positive impact made by the local authority in these endeavors.
